3 tips for boarding your cat

Here are our top 3 tips to help make cat boarding easier for you and your fur baby!

  1. Prepare early

There’s nothing more stressful than frantic last-minute packing for a holiday. Our cats are creatures of habit and can be sensitive to changes in our emotions, too. To make this time easier, we recommend booking cattery accommodation early. If you can, visit in advance to view the facilities, meet the staff and ask any questions you may have. This will help put you at ease as you prepare to head off on holiday.

  2. Protect their health, make sure they’re vaccinated

We know how much the wellbeing of your fur baby means to you. To ensure your cat remains healthy and safe during their stay at a cattery, ensure their vaccinations are up to date and be ready to provide evidence of vaccination when booking accommodation for your pet.

The recommended minimum requirement for cats going to catteries is the F3 vaccination. This provides immunity against feline enteritis and feline respiratory syndrome (commonly called ‘cat flu’). Your vet may also advise vaccination against Chlamydophila and feline Leukaemia.

  3. Help create a home away from home for your cat

There’s nothing like coming home from holidays to your own bed. Your kitty feels the same way! But the benefit of pet holidays is that they can take their beds with them. Feel free to pack your cat’s bedding and some favourite toys for their cattery stay to help make settling into a new environment a bit easier for them.

If your cat has special dietary or medication requirements, mention this when booking so appropriate arrangements can be made for their stay.

Boarding your cat for the holidays can be a positive experience for both them and you! Contact us to discuss how we can accommodate your individual pet’s needs.
