3 tips for boarding your dog

Here are our top 3 tips to help make dog boarding easier for you and your fur baby!

  1. Prepare early

There’s nothing more stressful than frantic last-minute packing for a holiday. Our dogs often pick up on these emotions - and we certainly know that they notice once the suitcases come out! To make this time easier, we recommend booking boarding kennel accommodation early. If you can, visit in advance to view the facilities, meet the staff and ask any questions you may have. This will help put you at ease as you prepare to head off on holiday.

  2. Protect their health, make sure they’re vaccinated

We know how much the wellbeing of your fur baby means to you. To ensure your dog remains healthy and safe during their stay at a boarding kennel, ensure their vaccinations are up to date and be ready to provide evidence of vaccination when booking accommodation for your pet.

The recommended minimum requirement for dogs going to kennels is the C5 vaccination. This provides immunity against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and bordatella (which cause canine cough).

  3. Pack some favourite items for your pooch

There’s nothing like coming home from holidays to your own bed. Your pooch feels the same way! But the benefit of doggy holidays is that they can take their beds with them. Feel free to pack your dog’s bedding and some favourite toys for their kennel stay to help make settling into a new environment a bit easier for them.

If your dog has special dietary or medication requirements, mention this when booking so appropriate arrangements can be made for their stay.

Boarding your dog for the holidays can be a positive experience for both them and you! Contact us to discuss how we can accommodate your individual pet’s needs.
